How to Get Admission in Kathmandu Medical College? (2026 Guide)
Why Kathmandu Medical College?
Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) is one of the most prestigious institutions for MBBS in Nepal. Affiliated with Kathmandu University and recognized by the NMC, it offers a world-class education right in the heart of the capital city. The total tuition fee is approximately ₹54,00,000.
Step 1: Check Eligibility
Before applying, ensure you have a minimum of 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in your 12th board exams. Crucially, Indian students must have qualified the NEET-UG exam in the current academic year.
Step 2: Clear the MECEE-BL Exam
KMC does not conduct its own entrance exam. All admissions are routed through the Medical Education Commission (MEC). You must register for and pass the MECEE-BL (Bachelor Level) exam. KMC is highly competitive, so securing a high rank in MECEE-BL is essential.
Step 3: Online Counselling
Once the MECEE-BL results are declared, MEC conducts centralized online counselling. Based on your merit rank, you must select KMC as your first preference. If allotted, you will receive an official admission letter.
Step 4: Document Verification and Fee Payment
You must travel to the KMC campus in Kathmandu with original documents (10th/12th marksheets, NEET scorecard, birth certificate, passport/voter ID) for verification. You will then pay the first installment of the tuition fee (approx. ₹27,00,000) to confirm your seat.
