This rule severely impacted destinations like Russia and China, where some universities offered bilingual programs (first 3 years in English, last 3 years in the local language). Fortunately, Georgia stands out as a 100% English-medium destination.

All NMC and WDOMS-approved medical universities in Georgia offer their MD programs completely in English. The professors, textbooks, examinations, and laboratory instructions are strictly in English. This is a massive relief for Indian students.

So, Why Do You Need to Learn Georgian?

If the entire course is in English, why do universities mandate Georgian language classes in the first few years? The answer lies in Clinical Exposure.

Starting from your 3rd or 4th year, and specifically during your 6th-year internship, you will be interacting with real patients in Georgian hospitals. The local population in Tbilisi, Batumi, or Kutaisi speaks Georgian (and sometimes Russian). To take a patient's medical history, understand their symptoms, and communicate effectively, you absolutely must know basic conversational Georgian.

Is the Language Hard to Learn?

The Georgian alphabet (Mkhedruli) is unique and takes some getting used to. However, because you are living in the country, hearing it daily in supermarkets and on the streets, picking up conversational Georgian is surprisingly easy for most Indian students. Furthermore, the universities structure the language classes to focus specifically on medical terminology and patient communication.
