Many students confuse the high cut-offs of Indian government colleges with the requirements for studying abroad. Let's clear the air: You do NOT need a high NEET score to study MBBS in Bangladesh. You simply need to 'qualify' the exam.

What does 'Qualifying NEET' mean?

The National Medical Commission (NMC) sets a qualifying percentile every year. If you score at or above this percentile, you are legally eligible to study medicine abroad.

• General / EWS Category: 50th Percentile. This usually translates to roughly 135 to 150 marks out of 720.
• OBC / SC / ST Category: 40th Percentile. This usually translates to roughly 105 to 120 marks out of 720.

As long as your scorecard reads 'Qualified', you meet the Indian government's requirement. However, that is only half the battle.

The Bangladesh GPA Requirement (The Real Test)

While the Indian government only cares about your NEET score, the Bangladesh government cares deeply about your board exam marks (10th and 12th standard). Even if you score 600 in NEET, you will be rejected by Bangladesh if your 12th board marks are low.

To get admission in a private medical college in Bangladesh, you need a minimum combined GPA of 7.0 (out of 10) in your 10th and 12th exams, with a minimum GPA of 3.5 specifically in Biology. If you are aiming for the free SAARC quota in government colleges, you need a near-perfect GPA (95%+ in boards) and a very high NEET score.
