Flight Routes and Airlines

There are currently no direct, non-stop flights from New Delhi (DEL) to Tbilisi (TBS). All flights require a layover. However, the connectivity is excellent, primarily handled by premium Gulf carriers.

• Air Arabia (Via Sharjah): The most popular and budget-friendly option for Indian students. The layover is usually 2 to 4 hours in Sharjah.
• IndiGo (Via Baku/Istanbul): IndiGo operates codeshare flights or flights with layovers in neighboring countries, offering highly competitive rates.
• Qatar Airways (Via Doha): A premium option offering superior comfort and higher baggage allowance, though slightly more expensive.
• FlyDubai (Via Dubai): Another excellent, reliable option with seamless connections in Dubai.

Journey Duration

Including the layover, the total journey time from New Delhi to Tbilisi typically ranges from 9 to 12 hours. You leave Delhi in the morning and are checking into your hostel in Tbilisi by the evening.

Baggage Allowance Tips

Medical students moving to a new country for a year tend to pack heavy (spices, winter clothes, pressure cookers). Standard economy tickets usually offer 20kg to 30kg of check-in baggage and 7kg of cabin baggage.

Nile Tip: Always pre-book an extra 10kg or 20kg of baggage online while booking the ticket. Buying extra baggage at the airport counter is astronomically expensive.

Immigration at Tbilisi Airport

Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) is modern and efficient. Upon landing, proceed to the immigration counters. You must present:

1. Your Passport with the Type D3 Visa.
2. Your University Admission/Offer Letter.
3. Proof of Accommodation (Hostel booking letter provided by Nile Education).
4. Return Ticket (dummy/refundable ticket, as you are on a student visa).

Group Departures

Traveling alone for the first time can be scary. Nile Education organizes Group Departures in September and October. You will fly with a batch of 30-50 other Indian students, accompanied by a Nile Education representative from Delhi all the way to your hostel room in Georgia.
