You have secured your admission letter from a top university to study MBBS in Egypt. Congratulations! The final hurdle is securing your Egyptian Student Visa. The Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi is notoriously strict about documentation. Here is Nile Education’s definitive guide to securing your visa without hiccups.
Step 1: The Initial Entry Visa
Unlike some European countries, you do not apply for a 6-year residence permit from India. Instead, you apply for a standard Entry Visa (Student Category) which is valid for 1 to 3 months. Once you land in Egypt, the university will convert this into a Residence Permit (Iqama).
Step 2: Gathering the Documents
You must present a pristine, perfectly organized file to the embassy. You will need:
- Original Passport: Valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date.
- The Admission Letter: The original, stamped acceptance letter from the Egyptian University (e.g., Zagazig University).
- Security Approval: This is a critical document generated by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, coordinated by the university.
- Apostilled Marksheets: Your 10th and 12th original marksheets must be apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India.
- Medical Certificate: An HIV and Hepatitis negative certificate from an authorized diagnostic center.
- Bank Statement: Proof of funds from your parents showing the ability to pay the tuition fee (usually 3-6 months statement showing at least ₹5-7 Lakhs).
